Ceremonies of Significance

Baby Naming-Blessing

The arrival of a precious baby is one of life’s truly amazing gifts.  To help you celebrate the arrival of your child, I can create a personalised ceremony that is reflective of your beliefs and values, wishes, or prayer for your baby and your family.

The baby blessing or baby naming ceremony that I will co-create with you will provide you and your family with an opportunity to reflect and affirm what’s important to you whilst welcoming and honouring the newest member of your family.

The ceremony will be tailored to suit your family’s needs and wishes.  It can include a grand-parents blessing for the baby because, while the parents of the child may not be “religious”, the child’s grandparents may be.  Perhaps you would rather have ‘godparents’ referred to as ‘guide-parents’ and have them vow to be a positive influence on your child by their good example.

Commitment

There can be several reasons why a couple may decide not to change their legal status by getting married. However, many couples can also have a yearning to make a formal commitment to one another.  A commitment ceremony is a non-legal ceremony that can meet such a need.  It can be the perfect way for a couple to celebrate their commitment to each other and declare their love and devotion to one another.

Gratitude

Gratitude ceremonies are popular with people who have recovered from life-threatening illness or a challenging incident in their life. A gratitude ceremony can be personalised to reflect your specific experience.

Divorce

Divorce is a significant transition for a couple and their families. It can be a positive experience, but it can also hold significant loss.  It’s one thing to think about getting divorced but it’s not always the easiest of options.

A respectful and dignified ceremony to honour the occasion can facilitate the couple to step out of the marriage and to move forward with their individual lives.

The ceremony provides space to mourn the loss of what was and to openly welcome the future.

A divorce ceremony provides the children, family and friends of that couple with an opportunity to be seen as part of this transition, and it can help to put their minds at ease about what the future holds.

Coming of Age

Coming of age ceremonies are generally seen as a way of celebrating a child’s rite of passage into adulthood.  These ceremonies can be as simple or as elaborate as a young person and their family wishes for them to be.  Adolescence can be a difficult time and ‘coming of age’ ceremonies are one way of helping the young person through this phase of their life.
There are other opportunities in life when ‘coming of age’ can also be acknowledged, and when ceremonies can be created to celebrate us as human beings at whatever stage of our lives that we are in: youth, middle-age, parenthood, and elders.

Spiritual Counselling

Spiritual counselling is supportive and provides people with a loving and nurturing safe space to be seen and heard. It tends to be particularly beneficial to people who are at a crossroads in their life or perhaps struggling with loss.  The spiritual counselling process can be facilitated in-person or online.
